We understand that visiting a new church for the first time can be intimidating, whether you’ve been a long time church-goer or not. And we know that your first time at a church, any church, brings up questions like:
- What should I wear…
- What’s available for my kids…
- What should I expect in the service?
Who will be there? Here at RVPC, you’ll find friendly people of all ages and backgrounds, in all walks of life!
What will I find? You’ll find classic hymns and contemporary praise songs. You’ll find messages that help you learn and understand who God really is and what Scripture actually says. We are committed to helping you grow in the love and knowledge of God. What you learn on Sunday will help you know how to think about life and deal with everyday realities through the week.
What should I wear? You’ll find everything from casual to dressed-up, from jeans and t-shirts to shirt and tie. Just be yourself and be comfortable, and you’ll fit in just fine.
What’s the music like? We like to keep it simple. We sing classic hymns, contemporary praise songs, as well as the Psalms. We choose our music carefully, wanting to glorify and honor God in each song we sing.
What about my kids? We love kids. Jesus Himself said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 19:14 ESV). We believe that worship is a vital part of training and nurturing children in the faith. So we encourage children to stay in the service with their parents whenever possible, but we do offer nursery for the little ones who just can’t sit through the service yet. During the Sunday School hour, we have Sunday School classes for adults and kids.
We know there’s plenty to think about when you’re visiting a church for the first time. It’s our hope that getting some of these questions out of the way will make it easier for you to join us for worship. The best way to see what we are all about is to do just that – come join us for worship on Sunday!
